The international conference Cinéma et portabilité is being held on 19 and 20 October 2017 at the Université de Montréal. Organised by TECHNÈS in collaboration with GRAFICS, Université Rennes 2 and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, this conference is convened by Richard Bégin (Université de Montréal) and Gilles Mouëllic (Université Rennes 2).

The conference is an opportunity to take into account the expression of the desire for portability in modern societies and technologies in order to consider them from a genealogical perspective. This examination of portability will bring into dialoguer practices and devices which, as part of a history of technology, contribute to the emergence of the widespread mobility of media forms. .
