TECHNÈS is launching its new television series Connaissance du cinéma, which plunges to the heart of cinema technology by bringing together professionals from the expanded film community representing two different generations. Conceived by André Habib, professor in the Département d’histoire de l’art et d’études cinématographiques de l’Université de Montréal and produced by TECHNÈS, in collaboration with the Laboratoire multimédia (LaM) and the Faculté des arts et des sciences de l’Université de Montréal,Connaissance du cinémawill be broadcast on Canal Savoirbeginning Monday 30 January 2017 at 10:30 a.m.

This new educational series, whose programs are twenty-seven minutes in length, is made up of six episodes: projectionists, home movies, collectors (parts 1 and 2), sound professionals and film directors. The format of each episode is that of a “lesson” followed by a discussion using the relevant equipment, taking the form of a demonstration. The series aims to demystify the technological, material and practical bases of cinema and thereby to introduce curious members of the public to various aspects of cinema technology.
